How to become an alternative medicine specialist?

I'm really interested in alternative medicine but i dont know how to become a specialist. I live in Ireland but i will learn abroad if i have to. I like acupuncture and herbalism so any courses in there maybe?? Is it possible to get an apprenticeship or do i need a degree ? Any help or advice please :)
