Acupuncture worries post hug injury!?

A few months ago a bigr girl gave me a very zealous hug and I felt my shoulder being squashed but thought it wasn't serious however it has gotten worse and I went to a physio who said I had a large lump in the muscle and inserted an acupuncture needle inserted into my shoulder blade. My shoulder is better though not a hundred per cent, but now I have a tingling/numbness in my fingers on that same arm. How can a hug injure me? and what about this tingling?
