Would you recommend the Dexter Novels?

So I really love the Dexter television series, but I have never read the books. I wanted to buy them for my uncle because he loves all types of books about murder. I figured that would be the right book for him because the books are from the killers perspective, and the show is so amazing. Are the books good, and do you think my uncle would like them?
