What is the concept of the five elements graph plus the ying and yang?

I know it has something deals with health and chinese remedies. I also herd their was something else that is called the absence of ying and yang but i do not know the exact name for it. I know one treatment called the acupuncture and some other one with bowls and flames. I know the last one would probably be fake.
